Eat like an Italian

Generally restaurants serve lunch from 12 to 2 pm and open in the evening from 7.30 pm. Sunday lunch is when families eat out and restaurants are usually bustling and booking is required.  Children will always be welcomed and catered for in Italian restaurants.

Podenzana


A word on Panigacci.  This traditional and very local dish is eaten mainly in the area of Podenzana.  Round terracotta dishes are heated over the embers of a wood fire, once hot,  thick batter is spooned onto a dish and another hot dish laid on top with more batter until a high pile is made.  They then flip them and take out the thick crisp pancake which is served in baskets at the table with cream chesses and trays of parma ham and salamis.  A treat.
